I'm trying to gauge some interest in a Vietnam tactical event for next spring. Generally the snow is off the Camp by around April/May.
This tactical event would simulate a "company" of USMC grunts occupying a FOB in I corps. Missions would include both manning the wire and search and destroy missions in "Indian country".
The MCHA has some gear to loan people who are interested in doing either a USMC grunt impression or a PAVN/VC impression. Rothco jungle fatigues WORK for a USMC impression, and Khaki thingyies and black scrubs will work for NVA/VC impressions. I also have some loaner rifles for people interested. (Mausers work for VC impressions)
Missions will be ran very realistically. There will be a COC, a grid reference map, platoon commander will be fragged for a mission, real objectives, radios and smoke for extraction.
On the flip side, Charlie is expected to own the terrain and camp and cook "out there". Booby traps and ambushes are the name of the game. And Charlie especially owns the night.
Just sound off here if your even remotely interested or have any questions.

Sounds exciting. I would love to get my unit together to play the VC if at all possible.

I may be interested in an OPFOR gig...yeah, like what else? Nice thing about SKS's and AKs is that blank adapters and blanks are cheap.

SKS's and AK's where the most common seen weapons on Main Force VC units after 1965 , making about 80% or so of the weapons carried by them . The VC stopped being an effective fighting force after TET '68 , when they where for the most part annihilated by Allied forces and during the 1972 Easter offensive there was no sign of the Viet Cong.

Still don't know our 2011 calendar of events either, so this could conflict. I will post them as soon as I am aware of them.

I really want to do some OPFOR. I'll have to pack a Mosin unless someone has an extra AK.

I'll be able to go RPK and my son with the SKS. Going to figure out how to do a reliable bump fire with the RPK to get some realism into it.
