Is Cobra going to be a 24hr war, (night actions) or will we have a quitting time until the next morning? Need to know if I need to save for gas money to haul the trailer up.

There will be some night ops but nothing too late. We would also prefer the troops to stay together in the squad tent in case there is need for action during the night/early morning. Just because the shooting stops does not mean we are done for the day. There will be LP/OP watches, training and you will find out with the way we run tactical there isn’t a timeline giving out to the troops. There will be no set start or end times to battles so you may not know when for sure when we will be starting in the morning. It makes it easier to have all the soldiers together. Also, the trailer would have to be in the parking lot away from camp. I personally would prefer you to be with the rest of the guys.

I figured if we're going for the immersion and its a 24hr gig then I'd go for it. I'm all for all night actions. If I am not going to get any sleep then I want to do it in action and not listening to a bunch of dudes snoring. I always hated the barracks and being crammed into GP tents. I may bring the trailer as a back up and just set my alarm for 5am, we'll see. Sleep is a rare commidity for me. Makes me sound like a wimp, but I figure I've already given 7 years to Uncle Sam, I'd rather enjoy reenacting than make it feel like a job. Does that make sense?

Certainly does. We are all for 24hr immersion, but that doesn't necessarily mean there will be combat all night, or even that you will be awake. Part of the fun of the events is being in the immersion the whole time, and leaving your comrades to go sleep somewhere else doesn't fit in well and going back to the "real world" at night doesn't either. I don't think I have ever seen anyone bring out a camper before... then again I have seen a few people use a hotel. I think they have difficulty sleeping too.
Because the camp is period, you can't have the camper in the area. It will need to be out of site from the other camps and the battle area, perhaps the parking lot is just fine?
I did see someone bring a modern tent one time though. It rained all day Saturday, and he had to leave because out of everyone eles's period tents, his was the only one that failed to hold up to the rain and found several inches of water in it.
With a good stove, a cot, a pad and plenty of blankets the GP's warmer and more cozy than most other options.
When we go out there on the 29th we can get all of those details figured out. Will you be there?

LOL, what? No trailers, eh? I understand that the trailer couldn't be with the camp, not a problem there. Ironically when I was with the Army and my section would bivouc out in the middle of no where I would actually make my hooch away from the main camp. Pretty stupid when I think of it now as I could have easily been run over by a tank or other vehicle on night maneuvers. The guys of the unit thought I was kind of nuts, but I tried sleeping in a GP with them once and decided "never again", LOL. There is comradeship and then there is getting enough shut eye to function. Woke up one morning with a AH-1 Cobra gunship hovering over me, LOL. Helluva alarm clock.
And GPs are oven in the summer...
But I digress. Yes, my son and I will be there on the 29th. Really looking forward to it.

So how do you guys work the food and water? Do we bring our own? Is it supplied? Is Friday going to be set up only with the battle beginning Saturday? Are we to be in uniform on Friday? Is there going to be anyone to take pics or movies? Can we bring our own cameras? I know there are more questions...

Since we do not have a company cook you will be required to bring your own food. Also bring your own water, enough to last the weekend. Cameras are fine to bring. Uniforms as soon as you show up. I will probably be up there by noon on Friday to start setup of the Allied camp. help from the rest of the Allies would be appreciated.

Also, Friday we the Allies will be working on doing some training. There is no set schedule for the event. Only the "Brass" has the real clue of what is going on. I would expect something to happen Friday evening/night.

Heheheh, cool!
Don't suppose there are any companies out there that make authentic repro of K-rations?
I am going to be working frantically to try and get ahold of a cot. Sleeping on the ground like in my younger days just isn't that appealing anymore!

If you have/find a current cot, that is okay. I may be able to borrow a couple of them for you guys to use.
There are companies that make them, don't have any links handy. Do a search, should find them. Cans of chicken (same size of tuna cans) will work for them along with graham crackers and club crackers also work for the two types of crackers found in them. i have found it easier to carrier when I take everything out of the box and stuff them in a pocket or pack. Granola bars or breakfast bars are good, wrap them in plastic wrap and there are paper wrappers available on line if you want to go the extra distance. i don't have the time before this event to do it. By the next event I should be able to make some D-rations for the guys.
