Were the HBT jackets ever worn as "shirts" with just a T-shirt, or was there always a wool or khaki shirt worn with them?

In the ETO , sometimes , check out the guy in the center of the photo , which was taken during OP Cobra , he's wearing the HBT shirt with either nothing under it or with the undershirt .  |
