When I was in the Hurtgen for the 65th I had the pleasure of talking to a Knights Cross recipeant. He told me during the fight for Schmidt he was in his Sturmgeshultz IV by a barn, He was defending the town and he took out so many Shermans that his main gun was so hot, that he threw cow dung on the barrel just to cool it down. The last cow patty was put into the breach, needless to say the last Sherman was destroyed with cow poop. Look him up His name is Erwin Kressmann.
