I just discovered and joined the forum. I'm the caretaker ( hate to say "Owner") of a pretty nice 42 WLA army motorcycle. It currently is marked on the front fender with 3rd Armored, 36th Inf Reg markings. I recently ran it in the Vancouver, WA and Estacada, OR Veteran's Day parades where it ran fairly well most of the time, quitting once in a while and requiring a few push starts. Naturally it runs a bit hot in slow parade routes. I've done a little reenacting, but have to admit I'm not in that great of shape to keep up physically or present a good "fightin' trim" appearance, so I prefer displays and parades. I'm not that great a mechanic, but I do love tinkering with the WLA and have had some success keeping it running with help from good parts suppliers and specialized rebuilders (like Mutt in TX for the carb). I'll do a little travelling to events/displays as I can work it into my schedule, so I'd appreciate knowing when and where the group will attend. I live in the Vancouver, WA -- Portland, OR area, and BTW don't forget the 2008 National MVPA Convention is here in Portland in Aug '08!

I will try to download some photos from my files shortly. Speaking of Indian motorcycles, there was an Army Indian a few days ago on Portland Craig's List for about $17,000 which is really a great price if it's restored to running condition. I'm still paying off the Harley otherwise I'd have whined to the wife until she let me have that one, too!

If anyone is interested in more photos of currently-restored and mostly running Army motorcycles, check out a Yahoo Group I belong to "42WLA" where I have several photo files posted of various motorcycle rebuild and trailer pix re: my WLA. My trailer and a photo of my WLA is in the folder titled "Crate"; and photos of last winter's engine teardown and rebuild are in the folder titled "Hun Huntin' Harley". I'm not quite sure of the correct process of adding photos to these messages though. The "G503" message boards have some great info and photos on military motorcycles as well. Does anyone else in this group have a military vehicle besides the jeep being restored? (Speaking of which, I'd love to learn welding skills myself to fabricate parts and perform more at home repairs)

I have lots of imaginary vehicles, I will get pictures of them as soon as I can I wish! I am pretty knew to this whole thing and am still learning. I am sure it will be a while before I get a vehicle of some sort. Doing photos up here is easy easy easy. Have an http link for the photo, them put (using [] and not ()) (img)Your http Link here(/img) and bingo it just shows up. Klaus

Guess what I'm lacking is the "place to park the photos." Mine are mostly two places: on my desktop, and those I've successfully attached to send to the 42WLA Yahoo site. I'll check into the Photobucket site and see if I can figure that out. This is what the "code" looks llike (in Bold) for the digital photos from my desktop file. I just can't figure out how to attach them to these messages. What I'm used to is sending an attachment, not providing a link. [ dsc00155.jpg/img]

Yup, you need something online to store the photos. Photobucket is a good tool for that. Once you upload it to there, there will be a link you can copy and paste to the forum and you will have a picture posted. If not, you can email me a few and I'll host them for you. Let me know.
