If it is Hong Kong Keith, I haven't heard too much bad. The only major problem is shipping time. If you are not in a rush it may take a long time to get. That is the only major problem i have heard about him. Check out this guy: www.1944newsletter.com/I have heard from a few other forums that his German stuff is good.

Some of the reproduction stuff is very poorly put together, inauthentic, and may fall apart on you in the field. Most units have a recommended vendors area and using them will generally save you time and money.
The tunic here is an HBT tunic and usually is NOT accepted at most field events, as available evidence indicates that usually was not worn right on the Front Line. Some Italian events allow them. Having the full wool tunic works at just about every event.
There are a lot of differences between tunics too, Heer tunic verses an SS tunic. Insignia was sewn on differently, and for practical reasons the M42 has roomier pockets than the M43. The early model with the bottle green collar was rarely seen later in the war, so avoid that one will get you into more events as well.
As far as what is "accepted" you should consult with the unit you want to join, but generally you want everything to be spot-on as is possible. For my unit we reenact the average, and not the exception so "unique" impressions are not encouraged.

All new recruits should have low boots and gemaschen instead. If you already have jackboots then that's probably fine. As we are trying to reenact the average and not the exception, jackboots should be somewhat rare. After being in the unit for a long time some of the guys are basing their impression on 216 -> 272 and are a little more likely have jackboots.

Hey, has anyone seen the US wool pants at the Division Army Surplus? I am just wondering what era these are from and if they would pass for a WW2 uniform.
Klaus, any chance you could post some pics of your German load bearing equipment? Especially how the straps attach to the belt, etc.

Check for stamps inside the pants , it should be on the left front pocket or somewhere near it , even if they are dated in the '46/'47 time frame they will still work , unless they are officer style , which changed after '45.
I haven'r been over to Spokane in such a long time , i taught the Division Surplus had closed? How about the White Elephant? i bought 2 WWII M1 steel pots there for $10 a piece last time i was there. There was also a really good Surplus about 20 minutes from downtown Spokane , on the way to Idaho, lots of WWII , Korea and Vietnam stuff there.

No, the Division Army Surplus is still open and going strong. It has moved from its original location next to the General Store quite awhile ago, so maybe that's why you thought it was closed. Its been a favorite haunt of mine since the early 80's. White Elephant doesn't really deal with that stuff any more.
Thanks for the info.
