Need info on location and such so I can plan $$. Map? Are we going to convoy down? I can take a couple people in my truck if they'd like to pitch in for gas. How much of sticklers are the event organizers going to be as far as authentic equipment (my son may have to have some ersatz stuff).

Event Details
September 18-20
Theme is 1944 Italy, the Gothic Line
Site is located about 10 minutes outside of Redmond OR. I am not at liberty to post the exact location on a public forum as this is a private event and is only open to invited units and their guests.
Carpooling
I highly recommend people to carpool if at all possible. Otto and I and two others will be attending and our truck is full. Jimmy, Doc, Blake, Adam and potentially others may want to coordinate with you.
Event Authenticity Requirements
You need to contact your unit leader for authenticity details. The event organizers only go so far as securing the site, getting units, and planning battles. Impression details are managed by the units. Doc, Jimmy and Blake can help you with this. You also need to notify the unit commander that you will be attending so they can make allowances for you, secure sleeping quarters, food, squad planning and help locate loaner gear for you to use as needed. No unit commander likes guys just showing up without introducing themselves before hand.
Event Cost
Not yet confirmed, but I believe it is $10 per head.
Potable water and toilets will be available on site

Doc, Jimmy, Blake...Help! LOL. PM me or post info so I don't have any nasty surprises. Will need uniform/gear does and don'ts since this will be my first big event. My son will probably need quite a bit of stuff although I am going to try and get as much as I can afford prior to. Do we bring our own chow? Who is the commander?

Started figuring out finances...things are looking grim...going to have to place myself back on the "tentative" roster until I see more of what my paychecks are going to look like.  |

I would recommend avoiding making purchases and just save pennies for the event cost. Splitting gas 4 ways is fairly cheap, you can usually just bring your own food and then all you need is the $20 event fee for you and the boy. There is normally plenty of loaner items that is more than sufficient for the two of you. No one expects you to have it everything before your first event, after all this is what the loaner gear is for.
I still haven't ordered ammo, OK to proceed?

Yes, go ahead and order the ammo. Problem is I have a vacation to plan with the family also, PLUS my 20th wedding anniversary. Not going to throw in the towel quite yet but its just not looking too good. How soon before the event do I have to commit?

Let me or Jimmy know the week of so we can arrange the ride. Our unit commander would like to know who's coming a bit earlier, but it's not a big deal. This isn't a prepay event, so no money changes hands until you get there.

I bumped into Herr Blake at the park the other day. He says him and Jimmy are both planning on attending.

Yeah, I'll be there. Already talked to Jimmy, I'll be bumming a ride from him. Sounds like the Airborne will be a little thin this year. Haven't got any confirmantion form anyone in the group yet on who is coming down. I may be the lone ranger out there.....
