There have been some differing opinions on a Spokane winter event Blank Fire Event- higher authenticity standard
- few attendees since it would be our event only
- high immersion factor
- low attendees creates possibility of a canceled event and few tactical options
Mixed Airsoft/Blank Fire Event- lower authenticity standard to encourage airsoft attendees
- more attendees since this is as a join event with Spokane Airsoft
- Low immersion factor with plastic pellets replacing the bang of a real gun
- requires facial protective gear

I know at least three airsoft guys that would be interested in doing reenacting, we just need to expose them to it. Why not do both? The peeps that don't want to do airsoft is understandable. The airsoft event is not going to be that formal of an event, knowing the airsoft guys. It will just be great exposure for our groups, and those who want to do it will have alot of fun. We definatly need to have a Spokane reenactment event, I would recommend it being more of a living history event for the public since it will be relativly small, but I would also recommend waiting for spring. I am sure we could talk quite a few west side peeps to come over when we have better weather. I am in for both!

Thank you Grenadier Kottke for your input.

Okay, a suggestion. How about two events in one? Invite the airsofters to come experience a reenacting event, a nice hard core lots of gunfire type of deal. Then, incorporate the airsofters afterwards. In this manner both enthusiasts are served, and the airsofters get a good view of what reenacting is (and they can see how much it sucks to where airsoft protective gear when reenacting....LOL, sorry, had to throw that in.)

Thats and option, but won't it kind of just come out somthing like a public demo, a mock battle done in the open so it can be easily viewed?

Not at all. Have the airsoft lads "ride along" for the reenacting portion. Those who do not have blank rifles, perhaps can be loaned a rifle for the battle. The others can play the part of mortarmen or something, they have a role that will be intregal with the battle. During the Ardennes Offensive, many of the American units that were overrun were support or supply units. This would only be limited to our imagination.

Nice, I like that idea a lot! I doubt we have enough loaner rifles, but perhaps a few won't mind running without one?

Perhaps the scenario could be something like protecting an unarmed medical unit. The unarmed airsofters could play their role as medics in assiting the armed reenactors when they get hit as the Germans attempt to overrun the position?

I switched my vote to airsoft/BF. If we can do something kind of like what Red has suggested it might be a lot of fun. This is also a potential recruiting opportunity and that I believe is something we just can't pass up without numbers so small here.

If we are doing airsoft I may be able to bring a few recruits. My only worry is will we have enough loaner gear to supply anybody who shows up? or do we just plan to let the airsofters wear what ever they want?

I think people that are coming musrt have some kind of kit going. Last winter we had an event that allowed anyone to come and to me that was a joke. If it means a few less people so be it.

Since the event is going to be a 7 Mile, using airsoft guns is out completely. We're setting up blank fire stuff with the park Rangers, knowing that BBs are going to be flying in a public area may damage our cridentials. We're still in the infancy in our relationship with State Park, no way I am going to jeapordize it. So, no airsoft. People who are into airsoft will be welcome to come and check things out, but the BB spitters will have to be left at home.
On the flip side, the area past the 9 Mile Dam where there is a lot of airsoft activity could be used for a mixed event at some point.
