Okay, we may have discussed this before...in fact I am sure we have...but how do you get a kill when engaging an enemy that is dug in? If they're in a flimsy wood building (like the US were during the BOB skirmish), a prepared bunker, a trench?

Grenades mostly. Rifle grenades, mortars, etc. Also flanking maneuver if possible. Otherwise you pin them down with massive concentrated gunfire and have squad rapidly assault the position lobbing grenades. I have taken out several positions like this reenacting. I also have been taken out several times too. Problem is that I get an artificial feeling of safety because of it, and fail to notice that the enemy is way too close for comfort. Last event I saw three FJ get knocked out with a single rifle grenade because they thought they were safe behind a large berm and had bunched up next to each other.
Or call in a tank.

Okay, that appears to be fairly definitive. Assault or die...I like it!

Just to give an idea within 40 meters is hand gernade range, outside 40 meters is I guess you could say rifle gernade range. Rule of thumb for infantry assault during an ambush. Within 40 meters under contact, through whatever explosive you have near you toward the ambush, and assault through the objective. Outside 40 meters, smoke with suppressive fire and run like the wind while you get a quick grid then call in the F.A.G's ( Field Artillery Guys). Drop rounds on thier heads. Thats what I would do.

Plus if you practice it, it makes a nice battle drill.
